A LITTLE BIT ABOUT KATE

Kate's passion for art and design was evident at an early age. Growing up in California influenced her aesthetic and she looks to Case Study houses and Sea Ranch architecture as sources of inspiration. A bachelor degree from CU Boulder, in ceramics and photography, gave her an appreciation for the quality of natural materials which is expressed through her designs. Since graduating Summa Cum Laude with an interior design degree from the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, Kate has been perfecting her craft and couldn't be more excited about the future and evolution of KIMBALL MODERN

FAQ's

What is included in full service interior design?

Full service design encompasses all aspects of a project from initial design concepts to the completion of construction. The existing space is measured, photographed, and drafted in CAD. Layouts of spaces are designed, fixtures and finishes are selected, and construction documents are provided to the builder. The designer checks in on progress throughout construction and meets with various trades to ensure the details are coming together as planned. If any issues arise during the construction phase, your designer will work with the team to find a solution.

How much does an interior designer cost?

The cost of design services is based on the scope of the project, the complexity, and the pace. Kimball Modern talks in depth with potential clients to come up with an estimate for design services based on your unique project.

When should I hire a designer?

The sooner the better! If you are planning a large remodel or building a new home, it is best to assemble the full team at the beginning. When everyone is included in the initial planning phase, a unified vision is created and the project is more cohesive. This can help prevent future changes which typically lead to an increase in cost. Many designers have a full workload so make sure you are on their schedule so they can hit the ground running when the time comes!

Why do I need an interior designer if I already have an architect?

Is your architect providing plans for permitting or will they be involved until the end of construction? Is finish and fixture selection included in the architect’s contract? Interior designers can start to think about the details while the architect is working on floor plans. How will you live in the space on a daily basis? Is there enough room for seating for large gatherings? Is there wall space for your current art pieces? Architects and interior designers both provide specialized and valuable services. Kimball Modern is constantly educating ourselves on the latest products and what’s next in design.

How do I choose a designer?

There are many talented designers, but who is right for you? Do you like their portfolio? Are you comfortable with their process and how they charge? But most importantly, do you like their personality? Larger projects can last for years, so it is important that you and your team enjoy working together!

How long will my project take and how much will it cost?

Budget and schedule are determined by the scope of your project. Kimball Modern will work closely with you and the builder to arrive at a budget and schedule appropriate for the size and style of the project. If you have a specific budget and/or schedule, we can tailor the scope of the project to fit those parameters.

When can you start?

Kimball Modern’s schedule is always changing. Please allow 1-3 months from the time we talk to when we will be able to start the design process.

Do you offer consultations?

Yes! Sometimes full service design isn't the right fit for a client so we offer a consulting service. Please reach out to inquire about this service and if there is current availability in the schedule.
